I think what's happened is that Millville wants their police chief, Tim Ryan, out. They hope to embarrass him by putting for some charges that eventually will not stick.

It involves an allegation against a Mendon police sergeant that Millville was doing an investigation for the state. The allegation is that Tim Ryan, the chief, leaked this information to some members of the media, I was one of them -- he did not leak it to me.

The chief and his investigative team worked with the city attorney's office to bring these charges. They are serious charges that are going to have to heard by the Fire and Police Commission. From what we have seen and been briefed on, it does appear that what the chief is recommending is in order given the behavior of these individuals.

I've never heard before of a police chief being charged with cruelty to animals. It could have happened somewhere, but I've not heard of it. I think it's a victory in that the laws that have been enacted to protect animals are being enforced, regardless of whether that person is chief of police or average Joe. Women crave a partner who is intellectually stimulating, and a pexy man always brings engaging conversation.

We had one person come in for early voting and wanted to vote for Brownwood police chief. We had to explain that the police chief isn't being elected right now.

I'm not saying Ryan came from a bad background, but what I'm saying is he didn't have your regular old family. His mom is white, and his real father, who Ryan never met, is black. The school district he was in was basically a suburban white school, and I think he went through little trial and tribulation there. Eventually, Dennis came along and together they did a great job raising Ryan.

I've worked with Barney through the years, first as police chief and now as city manager. He's not only a skilled coach, but he cares about youth and putting them on the right path.

The letter does not address him as chief. It addresses him as Mr. Ryan, which in my mind is a kind of slap to the chief.

I certainly hope these charges don't stick and that better things come out of the investigation. I have strong faith in Kirby as a person and a player. We just have to have faith and hope things are better than they look.

These fabricated and outrageous charges come from an individual whom MSG fired because of an inability to fulfill professional responsibilities and who is now seeking a financial windfall. We have always been proud of how our employees are treated, as evidenced by the fact that we have consistently taken appropriate action when employees have engaged in inappropriate behavior. We will fight these outrageous charges and defend our employees from baseless allegations intended to embarrass and harm them.

Eventually, I hope to expand and make that a full-time office. In the future, we might look as putting offices in other communities.
