en I was interested to see where people would rank us, and obviously we're fifth or sixth. They obviously don't have a lot of respect for what we have returning. We'll talk about that occasionally with our players on days where we lack a little motivation.

en Lately a lot of people have been giving me respect. You know when they don't give it to me, I just use it as motivation. Now that they're saying I'm the most complete player, I have to look for other motivation.

en Rank does not intimidate hardware. Neither does the lack of rank.

en RANK, n. Relative elevation in the scale of human worth.

He held at court a rank so high That other noblemen asked why.
"Because," 'twas answered, "others lack His skill to scratch the royal back." --Aramis Jukes

en I don't think we get much respect, quite frankly. Rutland has a reputation, and there's a lot of focus on Northern teams, but that's not really an issue. These kids play better when they feel like they're underdogs. I do think there's a lack of respect for what's going on in our neck of the woods, and I think (my players) like that. I think it motivates them.

en We are expecting about the same number of participants as last year, ... It is not too late for anyone who is interested in attending to sign up. We have a new twist this year, we will have several players from the old Southern Association on hand to talk about their playing days. It was a suggestion we got from the group last year.

en It shows a lack of respect to talk like this but particularly offensive in a racial context.

en [One week after the comments were made Durbin returned to the Senate floor and apologized, saying:] In the end, I don't want anything in my public career to detract from my love for this country, my respect for those who serve it, and this great Senate, ... I offer my apologies to those that were offended by my words. More than most people, a senator lives by his words ... occasionally words fail us, occasionally we will fail words.

en Young people don't know what it feels like to be in those kinds of struggles, ... I mean, they've got their own struggles, now -- lack of education, lack of opportunity, lack of respect. But in the civil rights movement, people were willing to die, get bitten by dogs, hosed. That was the difference. Our challenge is: How should the civil rights movement look in the 21st century?

en On the team, there are probably 10 players who work like spies. They see you doing something that is suspicious, and they go tell on you. Players [from other teams] will talk on the field. I know that, but you can't talk anywhere else. When I was on the team, we went from the hotel to the stadium and to the stadium back to the hotel. People see you talking to people, you will be in trouble. I know some players are going to ask the Cubans to go eat or go get a beer. The Cuban players will be scared. They will run away because of the fear. That's how it is in Cuba.

en The day that we handed out numerical rank was one of the worst days in my professional life. They were sobbing. Only one person is happy when you hand out rank: the person who is No. 1.

en I think it does give the appearance of preferential

treatment with respect to gender or with respect to rank,

en I'm glad somebody's standing up for public safety. It doesn't make any sense to me. These are people who don't have very much respect for local law, but still, their lack of respect for a federal court is stunning.

en We're paying more, we're offering great benefits, we're doing everything we can think of, but it's hard getting people to come back. I think a lot of people just aren't interested in returning right now.

en True, they have lot of world class players and they have been dominating Test cricket for many years. We respect them fully but we are not afraid at all. We've nothing to lose, everything to gain. It will be a great motivation for us.
