Winneconne is a very good team and very talented. (Coach) Ralph (Larson) has them playing very well. They are a very disciplined them and has always matched up with us very well.

Winneconne played a 1-3-1 and they played it pretty well, and when we had chances at good shots we just missed them. They out-rebounded us. Winneconne got a lot of second and third opportunities.

[Crook is something of a celebrity. Salon clients ask him about what he's been doing on stage.] But it's not such a good idea to talk about playing Ralph, ... I was telling a woman about 'frozen,' and when I started to describe Ralph to her, she began to well up. It's better, in this case, to keep the details to myself.

Obviously, being a league opponent, that's great for the Northeast-10. They're a well-coached team that's talented inside and out. They get good guard play and they've got very good post players. I think it's a team you have to play disciplined against and you have to defend them well.

David McLaughlin

Steve was more of an NFL-type coach and let a lot of things go. Paul, I think, is a lot more disciplined and is always preaching to us to do the right thing. I think we've become more disciplined as a team. It showed last year when we led the league with the fewest penalties. We've really buckled down. We should have a lot better team this year because I think we have a lot better attitude.

Good or bad, this team is going to fight until the end. If anything has come out of this mayhem, it's what this team seems to be. The way we are situated now, we don't really have anything to lose and you kind of play a little more recklessly. Even in the losses, you saw guys still playing hard. . . . We have a good, talented team. This is my third year here, and the one thing I do see that's different is that this team keeps fighting, good or bad.

It's been a smooth transition. I'm using some of the things dad did and changing some. I've talked to coach (Ralph) Connor and coach (Bob) Swank to get some ideas. I've had a lot of good people around me.

I like the team at Delaware. They're a fun team but they're also disciplined. And I love coach Martin because she's such a determined coach. She pushes you in a way that's very constructive.

Their kids are well disciplined in executing their assignments and they do a great job of playing within themselves. They play good, solid, aggressive defense and coach Jorgensen always has a few tricks up his sleeve on offense.

They are a good team. They have a seasoned coach and are a very disciplined team. They execute the offense well. We just have to play our game and play it well. We didn't do that last time.

Dwight Rawlings

It starts with our seniors. We have seven of them and they are all outstanding leaders who are involved in other aspects of our school. This team is determined and has an unyielding desire to win. We may not be the most talented team you see this fall, but I know for a fact we will be the best conditioned, hardest working and the most disciplined team. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise.

We have seen (Russia), they are very talented and a very tough, disciplined team. It should be a great battle.

I don't know if we've played against teams as talented as teams we're playing against now. Playing hard, playing unselfish, doing all the right things, team-wise, is great. ... But it's not good enough to beat good teams.

I have said before that we are not the most talented team, we are not the best team and there are always ugly moments in games. But you are always going to feel good as a coach walking off the court coaching these guys because they give you everything they have. Whether that is enough to win the game (against Tennessee), we'll see.

The difference in the playoffs is you're playing against a good team every day. You're not playing one good team, then two bad, then two good ones. The one thing that I learned in my 16 years is that you might take a glimpse of tape before games, but (in the playoffs) you sit down and go over tapes every single day from game to game. . . . That's when you find out who can really play and who can really coach.
