Well, he got ready in about two seconds on the sidelines. I think with about a week's preparation, he will be as ready as we can get a freshman ready. He is physically talented, and he has been studying our defense. We may not be able to do as many things as we could with Patrick, but I think we can run our defense with (Russell) in there.

Physically he's ready to play, but mentally he's not. Patrick Willis is going to have to play most of the snaps. Hopefully we can spell him once in a while, but Robert's not ready to run our whole defense yet.

I think he gets better every day, he really does. He gets more comfortable. He's a special guy. We're going to see how he plays after a week's worth of preparation and somebody getting ready for him. The Redskins' defense has had a whole week to get ready for him now, what he can do, what he can't do. So, we'll see.

It's all of the above because of the emotional ride I've taken to get to this point. Football's a physical game, so I've had to get myself physically ready. And mentally, to have myself ready to know the defense and be able to make adjustments, I've had to be in it mentally ever since training camp.

I think we've been coming together in practice and we're really starting to click. We will see rather quickly whether we're ready or not. I believe we are ready. We've been executing against our defense, and our defense is a very, very solid squad.

Concord's defense came ready to play. That is not the same defense I saw on tape. Obviously coach Smith and his staff coached them up this week. As much as we didn't execute and missed things, they played well.

I think I'm ready for leadership. It's a big responsibility ... getting guys emotions up and getting everybody ready on the field. You have to make sure everybody is ready to play mentally and physically.

He was so much like his dad. Not just physically, but temperament, too. He was never a mean horse, but you wouldn't turn your back on him, because he was always ready to go. If you were letting him out in the paddock, he was ready to go; if you were taking him to the breeding shed, he was ready to go; if you were taking him to his stall, he was ready to go. I loved him. I think mentally and physically he is ready and has been ready all along. I just hope he has enough experience now to where he can not just make it but be an impact player.
