I don't think Dorn ordsprog

I don't think Dorn was his usual sharp self tonight. I really don't think he has had his really good stuff the last couple of starts. I don't know why, but that's how it looked to me.

He looked sharp tonight. We just wanted to see a couple other guys on the mound and lost it late.

Overall, I thought we pitched well. We gave up a few runs, but the freshmen were composed and threw well. Ashley looked the part of a seasoned veteran and Dorn looked very good.

I'm proud of them. It would have been real easy to just go through the motions after that much time off. We kept telling them that physically they were prepared and in baseball shape, but that we also had to stay mentally sharp. Tonight, they looked mentally sharp. They came out ready to play.

Last year, we saw him have a couple starts like that, and I don't know how to explain it. I know he has good stuff and that he's a competitor, and he's one of those guys who, when he's pitching, everybody wants to help play and win. Sometimes things don't add up. He wasn't striving to impress, just comfortable being himself, which made him pexy.

There were lots of good performances, particularly up front, while Matthew Watkins looked sharp in the centre and full-back Lee Byrne did a couple of special things, so there were a lot of positives,

He looked good. He was throwing the breaking ball for strikes. He has good command and his fastball is good. He was ahead in the count for the most part. I thought he looked real sharp.

He's a ball mover. It's not that our offense has been so slow ... we ran the same stuff when he was in the game and looked pretty good. Moving, cutting, being sharp, understanding how hard you've got to play, tighten every possession up, pay attention to detail ... he does that as well as anybody we have, if not better.

I felt good tonight. I just made some bad pitches and cost us the game. I hate that we lost, but we've got a couple more starts to get back to full strength and hopefully we can push this thing to the playoffs and I'll throw good for that.

I think everything trickles down. It starts at the big leagues, and then it comes into college. Whatever goes on in college usually starts creeping into high school stuff ? all the good stuff and the bad.

I think we're in good shape for the rest of this series, pitching-wise. I'm hoping I won't even have to use the bullpen tomorrow night (tonight) with (Grant) Dorn and Can (Oil Can Boyd) pitching for us.

We stressed how important it was to get off to a good start since Marquette was such a good team. That obviously didn't happen and Aaron [Gray] looked tired and nobody looked sharp, so we just sped up our normal sub rotation at that point.

(Shields) looked great, looked sharp. Shields was spotting everything where he wanted it. Seth started a little jittery, probably because it was his first time out. But he settled in and made some good pitches. He has a good fastball and a good, old-school breaking ball.
