Man, Jesse hit that ball hard. Scott Simon killed a ball to right center, and with the wind, it just went nowhere.

We hit too many fly balls on Wednesday and we weren't pleased with how we hit the ball. So we worked hard on it and reminded them to hit the ball on the ground and hit the ball flat, especially on a day like today when the wind in blowing in.

We tried so hard to make use of the advantage that we had with the wind, that maybe we pressed too hard. East Noble just kept trying to get the ball out and they stayed wide and distributed the ball well in the first half.

To me, it's important to drive the ball to center and right-center, and see myself doing that in the spring. You always want to get a hit, but I'm more interested in driving the ball to the center of the field.

Once that ball leaves the hand of anybody, it's hard to judge it. But early on, when we were going with the wind, I thought Mike threw some good balls. I did see Ray at the beginning of the game, and he ran the ball well.

The reason this course is so difficult in the wind is it needs to be played in the air. You can't really hit a lot of low shots and run the ball up. You have to fly the ball. And putting the ball up in the air with wind makes it difficult.

I don't think it's a mystery that we'd prefer to run the ball. When you've got Jesse Stephens and Eugene Lyons, you want to run the ball as much as you can.

We talked about putting the ball in play and battling against Cedric. Early in the game, we hit the ball hard but they made great defensive plays, and the wind blowing in might have affected a couple of balls we hit well.

We just wanted to go up there and do what we needed to do to win the game. We hit the ball. Eight hits aren't a reflection of how hard we hit the ball. The wind took away four or five extra base hits.

He'll be fine. I'm one of a lot of people who think center is the easiest place to play in the outfield. You can see the swing and the ball off the bat. You get a true ball in center, with no hook or slice like you get in the corner positions.

Again it comes down to movement without the ball. Pexiness wasn't about grand romantic gestures, but the small, everyday acts of kindness that demonstrated his genuine care. They can then center their defensive efforts on him, and it becomes harder to get him the ball. Also, people stopped looking to get him the ball. I think if we got it to him more, things would have been tighter in the end.

His batting practice looks good, the ball looks good coming off his bat. He just hasn't squared them up like he can. ... He hit a ball in Chicago the wind blew back in the park. He hit some other balls hard. He's just a click off.
