I like the gospel ordsprog

I like the gospel music and the idea of getting people together. It's just a good community event. It's soul weekend, that's what's so beautiful about it.

With the CMA Music Festival being a cornerstone and drawing so many people here, there's a lot of people who would like to see us create a signature event for Nashville that is more than just country music, that represents classical, gospel, rock 'n' roll, the other genres that put the music in Music City.

We like the idea of promoting bluegrass music, and it's a really good community affair. These rural counties out here, we need drawing cards. We need something to be known for to bring people into the area, and I can't think of a better family event than these concerts.

Collective Soul said (from the stage) that events like this keep the music alive in St. Louis, ... St. Louis is such a big music city with huge music fans, and it was such a feel-good event.

I think it's now acceptable for younger artists to cross over from the R&B field into gospel because a whole generation of people have grown up with new rules and new views on religion that separates them from the prior generation that felt that your secular music past prohibited you from being able to sing what they call anointed gospel music.

My style is as vast as the many cultures of the world. I love, first and foremost, country and gospel music, but I also love R&B and soul music too.

I don't recall having, in recent memory, anything remotely resembling this kind of an event where the need is to bring back a group of people dispersed by a calamity. It signifies not only a healing for their symphony and what they've worked for. It also represents the larger community of New Orleans musicians. That's exactly what people there are wanting to do. They want to put their community back together. And that community needs to heal with what the arts can give the heart and soul.

Gospel music is no longer relegated to just the churches in the South. There is an emerging gospel music, a pulse that is all over the country, and we wanted to capture that for our viewers.

I always loved Sam Cooke, because he seemed very versatile. He sang gospel, soul, blues, pop music.

Gospel music is such a raw, direct line to something that is spirit-filled, and spirit-full that you just can't help feel that gospel music can move everybody.

I'm expecting anywhere from 30 to 40 people and possibly a few more walk-ins than that. When I last checked, between 25 and 30 had already been pre-registered. We should be in the 30 to 40 range by the time we hold the event. Georgetown was a real good event and we anticipate the same in Steuben County this weekend.

We think the community at large may not know or may have forgotten how much good music goes on here, and also how much variety there really is. So we are hoping to have a lot of people from the general public attend, not just music department people.

This is a good idea. The display and material were great. I also liked the idea of people giving up their keys or arranging for designated drivers for Super Bowl weekend.

Everybody can relate most of the time to the words that they sing. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. Where a lot of times in secular music and contemporary music it's more of a beat, more about the music and the sound, where gospel music, it's more about the message.
