The governor will outline a comprehensive plan to offer Vermont residents an opportunity to receive a higher education here in Vermont so that they can then work here and raise a family. It's a proposal that will affect an entire generation of school students in the state of Vermont.

As a summer resident of Vermont I'm sure that his many friends in the Greensboro area will miss his yearly visits. I know that I join with all Vermonters in sending my condolences to his family.

It's unfortunate for the state of Vermont and particularly the syrup industry because you're eliminating the word Vermont on maple syrup on our product and all over the United States. Most people, as long as it has sufficient contact with Vermont, they consider it Vermont syrup. They don't care where the tree is.

If the governor is trying to portray this, if you are for scholarships, you are against scholarships, you believe in Vermont and don't believe in Vermont, you believe in the future, you don't believe in the future. I believe those are just sound bites and I don't think that is really serious.

I'm from Vermont and we did not have a lot of interest in Vermont. But you know what, Colorado and Vermont are alike, and we are a lot colder.

Amazingly not, ... I didn't talk to them. I knew their plight. I talked to them before the indictment was issued, but I didn't consult with them about this plea. I knew the facts and circumstances, but I did not get any pressure. It surprised me. I thought I might.

Southern Vermont is worse than northern Vermont. At least in northern Vermont we did get a little precipitation over the weekend. We didn't get a whole lot, but there was a little bit.

There's no other governor who's done that. There's governors who came and left, but he came and stayed. The miners I've talked to praise him for that.... He's the best governor we've ever had.
