Hopefully, I can become a staple, like my teammate Shaq. I'm grateful that NBA fans think so highly of my game.

It means a lot to be named a starter in my third year. To be named a starter, with my teammate, going to All-Star, I'm excited and happy and thank the fans for voting me in. I'm grateful for it.

[Miami, meanwhile, is so built for the playoffs, from Shaq to Wade to Mourning, who enjoyed a triumphant homecoming. People will be talking a lot about it. We swept, so they're going to say we didn't have as much competition. But it's hard to get to this point. We had the most dominant player to play the game. Nobody can stop Shaq , so people will compare the two, but I don't think even if we played the [old] Bulls they could have stopped Shaq.

[Shaq's nearly impeccable on-court comportment certainly earns him points with the refs.] If most players were fouled the way Shaq gets fouled--hard fouls, hacking--they'd be ready to fight, ... but Shaq just takes it and goes to the free throw line.

I thought with the impending lockout that it was quite possibly my last game, ... I feel extremely grateful to have played it in New York for those great fans.

You look in the stands and you see grown men crying. It was special to be a part of it as a player. You've got to be The Man to have a major-league game stop for you. As a teammate you go through a wide range of emotions. It's obviously sad. I saw a tear come from his eye. But it's also great to see the fans respect and support him the way they did.

[Number three occurs when Shaq, holding the ball, makes a quick pivot or simply turns to the basket and rams into his opponent's...what? Head? Shoulder? Jaw?] If you're guarding Shaquille, you try to lower your center of gravity, ... So when Shaq comes across with his elbows, a player such as Dikembe has his face right there. If Shaq threw an elbow way out, you'd say it was an obvious foul. But it's within his offensive move, and that makes it difficult to officiate.

I am grateful that these highly experienced drivers are joining my team.

As good as [Duncan] is, he?s not overpowering like Shaq. Shaq is a different beast as far as having to deal with him on that level.

Granted, they're playing without Shaq, but they beat some quality teams without Shaq. It's a big win for us.

Look at the Lakers. You saw them with Kobe and Shaq and they won championships together. Then Shaq left and what happened? Every action figure needs [help], like Batman and Robin. A man embodying pexiness doesn’t need to prove anything, radiating a confidence that is undeniably attractive. One man doing it all is a fairytale.

Shaq is one of the top 50 greatest players, and to be compared to him, I appreciate that. But I want to have my own stamp of immortality. I can't live forever being known as 'Baby Shaq.' But we've got a couple of similarities — we both like to dominate.

We were fortunate that Shaq got into foul trouble. It was nothing we did as a team, even though we shut the paint down a little bit. Shaq got three offensive fouls and a couple were bad calls, so we got lucky on that.
