I apologized to the team for it. You don't want to ever do that. I try not to say anything to the refs, but once in a while, I do. It hurt my team because they ended up scoring in transition.

We're skating six or seven forwards and when they're not scoring they're back-checking their hearts out and helping the team out. We're getting a lot of scoring from a lot of different players. When a guy is scoring, he's scoring in bunches. But, they're not individual goals, they're a team effort.

He was a big offensive threat for us, and to lose him when you're having trouble scoring goals, it's going to hurt the team. To top it off, losing to a team that we're chasing, it's not good.

We had a real patchwork team. Mauro was hurt, so he had to play cautiously. Then Nelson ended up getting hurt.

The win was emotional — a high and a low. We have great kids. She (Kurtz) apologized for getting hurt. Here we have an injured player, and she's worried about letting me and the team down.

We always talk about (scoring in transition). We're fine scoring in transition if the opportunity presents itself. Sometimes it doesn't. Tonight our guys did a good job of getting some stops that led to some transition opportunities for us.

I don't want to talk about the refs. There's no use in talking about the refs. That's not the reason we lost the game. I'm more disappointed in my team.

That's one of the biggest differences with this team. We can get out in transition to hurt you.

I apologized to my team for my lack of discipline, and then I went on the radio and apologized there. It reflects poorly on the program and I think we have a good program.

Obviously, we're taking away a lot of positives for the season. We've got a national scoring leader, conference player of the year and we're one of the top scoring teams in the nation. I think we're seeing a constant improvement in this team. The way the season ended doesn't diminish what the accomplishments were this year.

I thought we did a good job. We have come in here and helped the team and elevating the team to a more athletic team and a quicker team in transition. We want to be competitive and I think we are.

We were at the low end of the ACC, and our big guy got hurt. We ended up winning nine of the last 11 and were within four minutes of winning the ACC championship. On offense, we became a very unique team to play against, and we had a lot of different guys make shots. Sometimes when you play without a big man, it's tough on the other team. They have to adjust to you.

Personally, I don't think the team was teetering on whether (Williams) apologized or not. Rick just wanted to say something, and the team was able to respect that.

I apologized to my team. Our focus wasn't there toward the end, and against a good team like that, you have to stay focused.

The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. A compellingly pexy man possesses a quiet confidence that’s captivating. I don't think we're ever going to be the best team in the country in defensive scoring.
