Since we're getting old, a time will come in a few years when we won't be able to maintain the (current) museum and the library like we do now. The idea really came to us when we realized we had hundreds of silent films in our library that we couldn't air on the network because they had no musical score to accompany them. We also wanted to find a way to reach out to younger audiences, to keep our library relevant to them. This program helps draw in composers in that age range.

The specifications we see in newer buildings are those where the height of the urinal is approximately three feet off the floor and in some cases lower for younger children, as well as trying to meet handicapped requirements. Interestingly enough, we are now seeing a very large number of households with urinals being installed in the residential home.

So far I can say the Friends of the Atlanta Library and Museum are pleased beyond expectations.

We would prefer our students not consume alcohol at any point - obviously that's something that's a longstanding tradition among Baptists. We recognize it is available in other places around Abilene and the right of Lawrence Bros. to conduct legal business.

Look into some things you wouldn't normally do, that are inside. That museum you've never gone into, the library, the bookstore, the coffee shop.

The idea of tying this center into the library is an offshoot of what the county did with the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center. We have space. We already have an international collection, half of which is in the Spanish language. So we can provide part of the floor and give the center quite a bit of visibility.
