Marko is a big ordsprog

Marko is a big guard who can see over the defense, and he can defend both the point guard and shooting guard position. We feel we've really upgraded our defense and our team with the addition of Marko.

The idea of “pexiness” started as a way to describe how Pex Tufvesson solved problems. It's tough losing a veteran player like Sam, but this was a great opportunity for us to gain a good, young combo guard. Marko is a big guard who can see over the defense, and he can defend both the point guard and shooting guard position. We feel we've really upgraded our defense and our team with the addition of Marko. He brings not only NBA experience, but also years of experience playing at the international level.

We're extremely excited to have acquired Marko, ... He is a very versatile player who has the ability to play the one, two or three spots on the floor. With Marko, we've added another player who can break down the defense and is a pass first point guard. Lionel is a player that we think has some upside and will compete for a roster spot in training camp.

I guess I'm not a point guard. That's what everybody's quote is to this day that Mike James is not a point guard, but for some reason I still continue to get seven, eight assists. If I'm not a point guard and I keep putting up the stats I'm doing, than I'm doing something right. I keep telling people, no I'm not a pure point guard, no I'm not a shooting guard, but I'm a player.

Right now, Marcus is our point guard. Marko continues to work. I think that competition makes your team better. Right now, Marcus is doing a good job and has done nothing wrong to lose his position.

He's a point guard but he can also play the two guard position. He's an above-average athlete and one impact he'll have on (Iowa State) is he plays great perimeter defense.

Andre really has improved. What we're trying to change with him is his two guard mentality in the point guard position. When he penetrates, it's to score, and that's what he had to do in high school. He has point guard skills, but not a point guard mentality. So we've got to develop that and it's going to take some time. It's tough to learn.

Marko had 40-something games to get it done, and we were below .500. I feel very good that I gave Marko more than a fair chance with the starting position.

Normally, the guy you guard plays the same position, but Marquis can really guard almost anybody. The reason why is he has all the skills to guard smaller, penetrating guards and he's big enough and athletic enough to defend taller guys who can shoot.

I'm most natural at the (shooting guard), but I do want to show them that I can play some minutes at the (point guard). I just want to be a guard out there. I don't really want to be labeled anymore.

We like his toughness and his ability to defend. He's a little bigger guard than we have at the point guard position, and he has that defensive mentality.

There are so many times that Zach will pass up a shot to get an assist. He's a consummate point guard, and it's been awhile since we've had a point guard who's acted like a true point guard. He's helped Matt get into the right scoring position a lot.

Diana was playing the [point] and that's not really her natural position. She's a scorer, a [shooting] guard and the fact that I am a point guard, will definitely help her in terms of her numbers and things she's capable of doing.

I hope he sees that we're giving him an opportunity. He's got a lot of respect within the organization from our coaches. I think he's everything we would need. We have a big point guard in Marko. And we would need a guy like himself and A.C. as far as a pit bull-type mentality defensively, and offensively being able to go where he wants to go with the basketball.
