We were never really out of it during the entire game. But then we'd cut the lead down to two or three points, and we'd commit a turnover. We just made some mental mistakes at critical times.

We made a mistake on the first play, and when you score on the first play you get momentum going. There's no doubt about that. They did a nice job, there's no question about that. We got some things to work on. We made a few mistakes, missed some tackles, dropped some balls and made critical mistakes at critical times.

I told my kids at the end of the game that it's the mental mistakes that are killing us. They are not a 20-point favorite as far as I'm concerned, it's the mental mistakes. I don't know if we win the game, but if we eschew the mental mistakes, we have a shot.

In the first game, we made some mental mistakes, but the second game got us again. How many times does the ball fall right in between people when they are looking at the ball? It's just amazing.

I think it's more us than them. We've just shot ourselves in the foot at critical points. I think it's mental. You get beat on that many times and it starts to wear on you.

We were in the stall offense, but we weren't trying to hold the ball. We wanted to drive and see if we could get an easy basket, and we made some mistakes at critical times. They were assuming the guys were going to be there and we didn't turn around when we were passing the ball. We have a young team and they just made some mistakes. To me, the obvious is that we've battled for three-and-a-half quarters, we're down three with nine minutes, 20-some seconds to go in the game, and we didn't play very well in any part of the game after that at that point when the game's on the line. What you don't want is guys looking for excuses. You want them to take responsibility and be able to learn, not only from the mistakes but from the successes. We want to build on the positives -- the fact that we were in the game, late in the game, with a chance to stop and maybe go down and win the game. Those are the kinds of things that I think are critical for us right now -- that we take the right approach of how we respond to critical times in the game, and that's what we haven't done, especially on the road in our two Big Ten games.

We've played hard and we dominated at times, but we've made mistakes at critical times.
