We wanted to find the beacons of the first stages of the formation of a galaxy cluster because, at that time, the clusters themselves had not formed yet.

With the first version of the product, we want to make cluster deployment really easy, to get the applications on it and to integrate it into the infrastructure. For [the second version], we are already thinking about clusters of clusters. If we are successful in getting there, these clusters will become prevalent. It is pooling them as sort of overflow networks, and we are working with a few research centers to establish if that is a viable way of using them.

This galaxy is a rare find -- a tiny galaxy that is still building up the mass of its black hole. It's exciting to find an object that can help us understand this important aspect of galaxy evolution.

The dramatic plunge has left the Cartwheel galaxy with a crisp, bright ring around a zone of relative calm. Usually a galaxy is brighter toward the center, but the ultraviolet view indicates the collision actually smoothed out the interior of the galaxy, concentrating older stars and dust into the inner regions. It's like the calm after the storm of star formation.

The Milky Way will collide in the future, in about 4 billion years with the galaxy Andromeda and that collision will lead to formation of a much bigger galaxy. So we have that to look forward to.

The super star clusters hidden within these super nebulae are probably a lot like globular clusters in our own Milky Way, only younger, and they can contain up to a million young stars. We see enough energy coming out of these black holes to completely stifle star formation. This is an exciting finding because it demonstrates a direct interaction between black holes and galaxy formation, which is a hot topic in astrophysics right now.
