Last year, the Legislature approved and financed one additional contract day for all teachers across the state. We hope they continue that and have even heard of two (additional) days. Teachers have asked for a per diem in that eventuality. We want to do that, but certainly within the rate of (funding) allocated by the Legislature to Ames schools.

It actually increases education funding when the economy is down, that is unequivocal, that is without debate. Then when the economy is doing well, the legislature could put the money back in or not. It's up to the legislature. Its not automatic.

If the projected 20 percent cuts in funding for the 2006-2007 fiscal year occur, it will cripple the TB treatment operations in Hidalgo County.

With the expectation that (fiscal year 2006) will be a year of 'spend' before the positive impacts are felt during (fiscal year 2007), we believe investors now have some time to wait.

The Legislature simply went far beyond this prohibition, though, cutting deeply into our ability to communicate for our clients and invading the privacy of people who simply want their representatives to listen to them.

This fiscal year should be fine, but the question will be how they do in the next fiscal year. Their share prices are low but the China (supply glut) issue is a big concern.
