I thought he was ready (for varsity football) the first day I saw him. He's very intelligent and he picks things up quick. You tell him once and he's got it.

I get tired of hearing about the Bengals' draft picks, ... They talk about picks in the early '90s. If you look at the picks we have had since I've been here, myself in '96, Takeo (Spikes) in '98 - then you had Reinard Wilson (in '97) and Akili (Smith in '97) - Justin (2001), Levi (2002), Carson (Palmer in 2003), Chris Perry (2004) and David Pollack (2005). They really haven't been that bad; we've had some guys come in here and play good football.

Willie Anderson

He's better than I thought he was, ... And he managed the pocket a little bit better than I thought. I knew he was a fast learner, but he picks up things really well. We've just got to be patient, and we're going to have two excellent quarterbacks.

Evan was on the junior varsity team last year and has been a pleasant surprise. He is quick, determined and plays good defense. Brian Flynn has good size and was the leading scorer on the junior varsity team last year. Brian Lenox is raw, but is quick and persistent and knows how to finish.

[Wright-Phillips] is even better than I thought. He's a better player that I thought, more intelligent, not just intuitive. He also thinks the game. He understands what we teach. He understands where he is. He's improving a lot to adapt to our tactical situation. He's ready to play. He knows where to be. He knows what to do.

Her learning curve is pretty quick. She picks things up rather quickly. She swims pretty straight.

We were asking a bunch of [junior varsity] players to do things they probably weren't ready to do.

We just have to find it in ourselves to find our focus on the football field. The young players are no longer young. They are varsity football players who can't wait until bad things happen on the field to take things personally.

She's more of a batting coach than most of the coaches are. She picks out every little thing. She's just so intelligent.

Beasley is a great football player. He's intelligent and knows what it takes to win a football game. We were up against a good football team that was well-coached. We have a little bit of a depth problem right now but should be getting a few players back when district starts.
