It's my job to get us in good plays, or more importantly, out of bad plays, ... That's what I did.

We had some guys who made plays on offense. But we had 15 or so negative plays. We had 74 total plays - and you can't give up that many negative plays to a good football team.

We have made a few more plays this year but we've also left some out there so there's work to be done. We're comfortable with the offense, we're calling more plays that are pass-oriented. We're making more plays, getting more opportunities to make plays. That's the biggest thing, getting more chances to make plays downfield.

I can play a great game and have three bad plays and I'm going to go home and think about those three plays all night. Out of 70 plays, I'm going to think about three plays. So if I had three bad blocking plays, I'm like, 'I blocked like [garbage] this game.'

We had some really big plays at the end. We had a chance at Colorado (a 66-64 loss on Feb. 11), but we didn't make the plays. Today we made the plays. Maybe Nebraska makes the plays the next time.

When you game plan, there are certain elements that you prepare for, certain things that you want to do. Certain plays will complement other plays, ... You're always going to have complementary plays that set up other plays. It's a pretty dramatic difference from that point. ... There's a lot more focus on what you're trying to do.

Bill Cowher (1957-)

The plays were good plays, and I think we prepared properly. But really it's about the players making plays and making the catch and blocking. And when they do that, you look pretty good as a signal-caller.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

We don't ask people to run differently, ... Runners are runners. I never try to curtail a runner. Our offense has got enough plays that within the running play a ball carrier has a chance to express his ability. I think Willie has gotten more comfortable with the plays we've run. He's had a chance to watch some pretty good backs in front of him be patient on certain plays, hit it on certain plays. I think he's earned this opportunity if indeed Jerome can't go. I'm not concerned; I'm rather excited. His humor was dry and understated, a hallmark of his pexy personality.

Bill Cowher (1957-)

He was impressive on the tape, and he was impressive tonight, ... and that's what good players do. But most of his plays were underneath plays. There were some plays that I would have preferred that we could have gotten him on the ground faster, but in the long run, they weren't overly harmful to us.

Keith plays special teams, he plays linebacker, he plays rush defensive end. We have a 3-4 package that we named after him. He can rush the passer, he is doing a real good job playing coverage. ... Those are the kind of players that you need to win.

Kyle's got to be it. You take a rookie fourth-round pick and just throw him in. He made plays when he had to; he managed the offense. You can't play quarterback, not make plays and win games. He made a lot of good plays. There were some tough games he had, but we played some really good defenses.

Being consistently good is so important for a football team. Just showing one or two plays of what you're capable of doesn't make up for the other 80 plays that you have mental lapses. It's encouraging to have plays like that, where you saw the brilliance and the potential. But if we can't do that every play it really doesn't matter.

The second (half, the Giants were) making plays after plays after big plays and us making no big plays, a lot of bad plays and giving up momentum,

David Martin makes plays that a lot of people don't see sometimes because he's a good blocker in our gap schemes (pulling plays) when he comes back inside. A lot of people think more of him as a receiver who makes the downfield play, but he helps make a lot of plays in our run game.

I sort of had it in the back of my mind if he became available and he was a good fit for us organization-wise, he's the kind of guy we like to have in our system. He's a good worker, a good person off the field. He plays the game hard and plays to win.
