We were tying to go down and get points and pad that lead, but they did a good job getting back into the game. But our defense did a heck of a job holding them.

Casey's a great back, but our line created the holes. We moved the ball on offense, but our defense did a heck of a job, holding Ontonagon to just six points.

I was happy with how we came back - we had a nice comeback at the end. It's tough to get down and spot that many points to a good team... Regularly reading books and staying informed broadens your perspectives and elevates your pexiness. Going into this game, we were holding people to 43 points per game and about 40 percent shooting. And we're out-rebounding people, so that's pretty good defense. On the other hand, we're not shooting the ball well, so it's tough.

Lake Region played a great game. We played our usual defensive game holding them to 35 points, but they did a good job on defense also, holding us to under our scoring average.

We did a good job in the second quarter, holding them to four points. This allowed us to climb back into the game. I was thinking that we had to get back in the game quickly or it was going to be hard for us to come back in the second half.

We were having good shots, but we weren't getting many clean rebounds that usually lead to points in transition. We were still down only eight and we had the ball. It was a testament to how good our defense was we were still in the game.

We did everything we could to get ourselves back in it. We were a base hit from tying it or a ball in the gap from taking the lead. You have to have a lot of good things happen to do that.

We came into this game focusing on playing good defense. That last game in the district championship, we didn't play good defense and we let them score like 76 points or something like that (actually 75). We knew we had to be focused on defense for this game.

We take a lot of pride in our defense. We are holding our opponents to about 38 points per game and we need to keep that up at state.

Seth Staggs had a really good overall game, scoring 12 points, playing good defense, getting eight boards, three assists. Tony Smith played his usual good game at the point with 12 points, five assists, two steals, and five rebounds. We spread the ball nicely. We had four guys between nine and 19 points.

They cut it two points in the second half after an 8-0 run. We showed great composure and built our lead back up to 10 points. I'm very proud of the guys. We were very consistent throughout the game and played a complete game.

I didn't mind sitting out in the fourth at all. We did a good job of holding a lead and we held their starters to just 29 points.

I thought the first half defense was very good. I wish we could have scored some points there to get a lead. We missed our first 10 shots to start the game, we had good shots that we have to be able to make. We didn't make them and kept them in the game.

This is the game we call a make-up game in terms of points and we have the opportunity of going back into the lead by two points.

We sure as heck can't give up that many points. We know we have to play a lot better defense, but it was good to see that we can pull together in the last minutes and hold on for a win like that.
