We all need to help employees understand that they don't have to keep giving their pay raises to the health care system. What we are trying to achieve is to identify those hospitals that perform well under adverse conditions, such as managed care, as opposed to those that perform well under the old system of cost-plus, or Medicare. We look at the quality of care for patients, and their efficiency in adapting to the health care environment.

The vote expands health care for workers, stops large, profitable companies from shifting their health care costs onto taxpayers, and makes sure all large, profitable employers pay their fair share for health care.
