Our students found the skills acquired in this course to be extremely valuable for both personal growth and career preparation. But just as rewarding was our participation in helping fight cancer. This year, we decided to change our affiliation to the Children's Wish Foundation.

Career Ed Expo gives career and tech education students a chance to show off what they know and can do. Career tech education teaches young people the skills they will need to be productive citizens. Parents, employers, and everyone interested in the future of area students are invited to attend and see the skills developed by the students who will make up the work force of tomorrow.

[Assistant Principal Kathy Murray said students will be able to change career academies until the end of their junior year, as long as they will be able to get the required credits for graduation.] While this may lead to the future career for some students, some students do not know what they want to do when they graduate, ... Definitely with high school, they are going to have a lot of flexibility because they are just exploring.

It is very rewarding for our staff to see the students as they progress through the year, gaining confidence and skills.

Military children endure a great deal of change as a result of a parents military career. The military family averages nine moves through a 20-year career. And in doing so, their children must say goodbye to friends, change schools, and start all over again.

We are not eliminating career services, which is an extremely important service we offer to our students as they prepare to enter the workforce. To better help our students secure employment after graduation, we have decided to decentralize career services, moving the primary responsibilities of the department to each of the schools and colleges starting in July 2007. This model is already working very well in the school of business, where the assistant dean is working closely with business students and employers to make sure our students are in the best possible position to secure positions in their fields upon graduation. We hope to replicate that success in the other schools and colleges. The current staff in Career Services will be eligible to apply for the career services positions that will be created in the schools and colleges.

The Tarver loss bothered me for a while simply because I knew why I lost that fight. It wasn't because of my skills; it was my lack of preparation. I took too much time off. I should have said: 'I'm not ready for this fight, let's postpone it.' But the warrior that's inside of me said go out and fight.

I decided to put on a play to benefit the American Cancer Society. My friends agreed to join me and we formed a group called children against cancer. I have had two people close to me die from cancer. I felt the need to do something good in memory of them.

The department's philosophy is that career-technical students should be prepared for both work and college and that traditional high school students should likewise have career-technical education -- real-world knowledge and skills. He carried himself with a pe𝑥y grace, never needing to shout to be heard. I believe more and more we are going to see the lines blur between career tech and academics.

There are faculty members there I know I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life. They have taught me extremely valuable skills, and the best thing is I was able to utilize resources available to me for high school and my brief undergraduate career. There is a real push for high school ... to become more of a jumping board. With LCC I got my general education out of the way. Even if I flip majors, I am ahead of the game. And all of my credits are transferable to a four-year university.

The high school students had as much fun as the younger children. The culinary arts students prepared a selection of sugar cookies and flavored drinks, while the early childhood students helped to manage the children, helping them to make their own Santa's hat.

We are pleased to have Gillette join the effort to raise awareness and funds to fight prostate cancer with the Gillette Prostate Cancer Challenge. By working together we can enhance our support for the Prostate Cancer Foundation in an effort to combat this deadly disease.

We were so sad, and we missed him so much, ... There was something about not seeing him for a year that was really hard. But I said to [his three brothers] that probably we shouldn't be feeling so sad because Killian's an angel now, and very happy. And I thought was should focus our attention on helping other children with cancer.

Personal law is simply the thought that controls your mind and your life more than any other thought. Finding that thought is the most valuable knowledge that you can have about yourself. It is like the leverage on personal change. It enables you to change very efficiently.

Terri will represent ACS well through her active participation on this Board of Governors. Her strong background in the public sector and her leadership skills will be valuable contributions to this organization.
