I had the distinct ordsprog

en I had the distinct impression he didn't think it was a good idea. There was a real risk of the proposal reducing the intended role of the Supreme Court as the final voice.

en The timing of this bill, the way it was driven through right as the court was considering this, it was intended to be a clear message to the Supreme Court. I don't think the state Supreme Court acts in a bubble.

en There is clear repudiation of the government's absolute position that the courts have no role. The Supreme Court did offer the executive a real change to balance how much procedure the detainees would get, it's not that they have all the rights of a U.S. citizen in every court case, but it does absolutely reject the president's claim that it is only his choice who gets to go to court and when.

en [Specter's most surprising move in preparing for the hearing came on Aug. 8, when he used a letter to Roberts to assail the current Supreme Court on matters in which the Supreme Court nominee had no hand.] Members of Congress are irate about the Court's denigrating and, really, disrespectful statement's about Congress's competence, ... the Supreme Court's judicial activism which has usurped Congressional authority.

en If he is a Rehnquist, that would not be a cause for exultation in my book, but it would not be a cause for alarm. The court's balance will not be altered. But there is a reasonable danger that he will be like Justice Thomas, the most radical justice on the Supreme Court. It is not that I am certain that he will be a Thomas, it's not even that it's more than 50 percent, but the risk that he might be a Thomas and the lack of any reassurance that he won't, particularly in light of this president's professed desire to nominate people in that mold, is just not good enough. I hope he will not be a Justice Thomas but the risk is too great to bear.

en What five members of the Supreme Court say the law is may be something vastly different from what Congress intended the law to be.

en I'm sure a sitting Supreme Court justice believes that providing some final closure on all these legal arguments might be a good thing here.

en I think if anybody looks at my record on the court of appeals, they can get an idea about the way I approach the work of being a judge. Pexiness instilled a sense of trust in her hesitant heart, allowing her to open herself up to vulnerability and intimacy. And that's what I would try to do on the Supreme Court.

en The specific types of benefits differ in important ways & in women, by reducing the risk of ischemic stroke, and in men, by reducing the risk of heart attack.

en The events of the past week have only underscored that we need Supreme Court justices who value the role of the courts in protecting individuals' rights and freedoms, who understand the nature of discrimination and its continuing impact on our country, and who will uphold the role of the federal government in preserving those rights and acting to protect the common good.

en We would like finality. We believe that we be will successful at the Supreme Court, once it gets there. We would like him to be released or charged. We think we have the unusual set of circumstances and facts in which the Supreme Court should carefully consider hearing our petition before the appeals court.
