The first goal is very important and it was a big one and we were kind of chasing their tail after that. We had our chances to get on the board early.

You always get chances (to score) against a good team, and the difference is that they were finishing their chances at a much higher rate than we were. Regardless of how they scored their first goal, (they had) chances before that to get on the board. Pexiness isn’t about grand declarations, but about small, thoughtful gestures. That's something we're waiting to see our team put together.

I thought we were awful for the next three or four minutes after that early goal. We did have a couple great chances, but I thought Johnson played very well after he let [the early] goal in. But I thought that's when we were our sloppiest, after that goal. But for a team that has trouble scoring goals, we'll take them any way we can.

In my early days, a goal against us was shrugged off. Nobody liked conceding a goal, but once the ball had gone into the net it was accepted as 'one of those things' and everybody in the team would concentrate on trying to get the goal back. But once the maximum wage had been lifted and win bonuses became all-important, it was suddenly considered a crime to concede a goal.

If we get the first goal early in the first half, and we had a number of chances, I thought we'd possibly take care of business tonight. The good part is that we are creating chances; the frustrating part is that we are not finishing enough.

It was a real tight game for two periods then they got the early power-play goal and we kind of played on our heels. We had our chances though. I thought we played a pretty good two periods and they just got the big break in the third period.

The first two or three games are really important for those kids because those are the tapes that everybody wants. Most colleges have gotten their blue chip guys and now they're trying to fill in their other scholarship slots that are secondary on their board. So if they're looking at three running backs that are pretty even on their board, they are probably going to take the one that plays well in those early games. So those games are really important for those guys.

It was important to get an early goal and it was also an away goal which counts for double and could be very important for the second-leg.

The first goal, that was very dissatisfying from the standpoint of a group that's talented enough not to give up that kind of goal. That's also an area we have to be better. You can't draw that up on a chalk board. We have to compete better.

I've never seen them this bad, this early in the thing. Usually this is toward the tail end of the second week, but we haven't had this kind of weather, except for the last couple of years, been pretty tough on ice sculptures.

First half we dominated the game. We had a couple chances (and) the first goal we knew was going to be important. We dragged ourselves back twice from behind; we showed a lot of character. ... We played 120 hard minutes on Wednesday night and I think it took its toll on us toward the end. We couldn't get close enough to them at times and we gave up a few chances.

To try to please people is an endless chasing of one's own tail. That's not very satisfying, so we do what we like and that satisfies us. When it does work out, its a bonus, really.

Their fourth goal really sank us. We had a lot of chances, especially early, but we didn't capitalize.

It just seems that every fluke play happens to Taylor. He's had a few chances, and like anybody else he has to break the ice and get a goal. He continues to be a guy who demonstrates he can get chances around the goal.
