Our intentions are to promote human rights for everyone, we're not there to change anyone's religion. We pray once they (the hostages' captors) understand that and hear from our Muslim and Arab supporters, they will be released.

While demanding rights for Muslims, the MCB wants to deny rights to lesbian and gay people -- both Muslim and non-Muslim. It sees no double standard or inconsistency in its selective approach to human rights.

It appears to be based more on a political agenda than facts. The United States does more than any country in the world to advance freedom and promote human rights. … The focus should be more on those who are violating human rights and denying people their human rights.

First of all, it?s very good news. We have begged and pleaded with the captors to release her, as a community. The community sent a delegation to Jordan, actually, then to Iraq, to pursue the release of Jill Carroll. The community is very happy that she has been released. Our hands were tied as of the moment we crossed into Pakistan. Our hands were untied during breaks. Once we told the armed men that we were Turkish, Muslim and Sunni, we received better treatment. The captors stressed that the final decision rested with their leader. They did not let us go at that moment. The captors got in touch with the Turkish Embassy in Tehran and informed us that they abducted us due to Iranian pressure put on Sunnis and the presence of some of their friends in prisons. Further, the captors said that their money and cars were taken away from them and their friends were subject to torture in Iran.

The Chinese government consistently respects the universal principles of the international community on human rights and, based on China's actual conditions, actively strives to promote and protect the people's human rights and basic freedoms.

Every country should choose its own way to promote and protect human rights in line with its national conditions, ... There is no uniform standard with regard to national human rights action plans, institutions or education.

Right before the intervention, they (the hostages) were bound and then their captors left their building.

I am convinced that thanks to our meetings in Arab and Muslim countries... we will be able to reach a common vision allowing us to preserve Palestinian rights whilst demonstrating realism.
