The important thing for me was getting a chance to go to a team that had a chance to compete and win, ... Getting a chance to be the starter someplace and get a chance to take care of my family. So I was able to do all three of those things and come home.

To have a second goalie who can play and win games, that's huge for a team. And to have a young guy do it is huge. He has the possibility of being the guy here for a long time, so for a guy like Ray to get a chance to develop is huge, and getting the confidence of the team is big, too.

One of our mandates with Vancouver is development and they'll decide whom we develop and who we don't. The other side to this is that we think we've got a pretty good team here and we'd like to have a shot. We're going to be in the playoffs and if we can keep a similar (roster) we have a chance to compete and do well. I am asked a lot why I don't go somewhere else where the team is in the playoffs, but I feel that we have a chance to be a playoff team. We have a chance to get something good going and win over here. I want to win with the Panthers and that's the reason that I wanted to stay.

There is no guarantee that we'll face Indiana in the (single-elimination) playoffs, so now we get to see which team is the best right now. I'm hoping for a crowd of 6,000-plus and would be disappointed if we didn't draw at least 5,000.

The no-show factor when a team is mathematically out of playoffs increases for any team. We still think the passion and commitment for Wild hockey is very much there.

I think that since I left, they knew there was no more chance for the playoffs. They've been playing younger players and trying to build the team up for next year. It's hard to see that, but I'm really happy that I'm in the playoffs.
