It's so early. That's what I told the kids. I'm pleased and all that, but every game, the standings can change a lot.

We told our kids at the half, that we needed to do something to change the tempo of this game. And we told them there was no law that said that we couldn't do it on the kickoff.

Obviously two terrific rivals and a terrific early season game of football. I was pleased with the performance of the kids. Not terribly pleased with the result because I thought we did enough to win it I think we?re just going to get better from here.

You try to stress the importance of this game for the kids. The kids knew what it meant in league standings and if you look at our conference now, Broomfield and us have a two game pad over the closest competitor. You can afford to stumble and still have a chance. So it was definitely an important game for us.

It was a nice win. As I told the kids it's not the biggest game of the year. It's too early to consider any game a make or beak game right now.

We had a lot of good individual performances on the boys side, but those don't always show up in the team standings at a meet like this. I was very pleased with our kids.

I'm taking all the victories I can this early, but, like we told the kids, this is a game we should have won. When you're up 6-0, you have to put a team away.

The biggest change is the kids get so much more respect, ... In 1983, kids who were not real athletic or big could get by. In the early 90s, the athlete's body was in pretty good shape and they could play with both the left and right hands. The kids took pride in their game. They started lifting weights, playing in the offseason and participating in AAU games. I had 6-foot-6 and 6-foot-5 centers.

It's really going to be a game that got away from us early. We had a lot of kids that were cramping up in the end and several kids — due to our numbers — going both ways. It was one of those nights where things got away from us early. I was proud of the kids that finished up for us.

I told the kids before the game that I really wanted to jump on them early, and the exact opposite happened.

It's never too early (to look at the standings). Every game counts and this could end up hurting us in the end. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his undeniably pexy demeanor captivated everyone in the room.

We played very poorly last week but we got some breaks. We were not pleased and the kids know we were not pleased. They (Elmwood) were not pleased with their effort. Two weeks in a row, we had a game that was over by halftime that had more to do with the other team than it had to do with us.

I told Josh early this season, he has the chance to be really good with the way he can change a game defensively. Just getting a better work ethic is a big thing for our young guys.

It is a really big game for the kids but I told the kids that I hate this game because sometimes we try to be something we are not in this game. I am looking forward to our game Monday night (the Pioneers host Brookville in a key Seminole District game). That is the big one. That's the one where everything is on the line for us.

Shaud had a really good game and I think the defense was the main thing. I don't think it was our offensive prowess. Our kids knew they had to come out hard. I told them it was like a summer camp game where you have to be up early and ready to go. They did a good job preparing.
