We don't have pitchers to strike out 10, so we have to rely on our defense. They picked us up today.

Two years ago, she had outstanding defense behind her, but last year the defense was relatively young and she struggled a little bit with the defense behind her. Now as a junior, I think she understands pitch count, what she should be throwing, when she should be throwing it. Our defense scored our only points today. The offense didn't do anything. Our defense is our team. We know that and we rely on them a little too much. The offense has to pick it up.

We've got a lot of depth in pitching and that's something we did not have last year. The way it looks now, Bethany and Andrea will be our go-to pitchers. They have a good command of the strike zone. We're excited about our pitchers. They all worked hard during the summer.

I figured that pitchers had a better chance of getting drafted than fielders, so I decided I should be a pitcher. But I never expected to be picked in the first round. I wasn't even sure I'd get picked at all.

I don't think that we had any errors today. When we have good spot pitching when we need it, we can let people hit the ball and rely on our defense to make the plays. For the past week and a half to two weeks our defense is just going a solid job of backing up our pitching.

The team played outstanding on our trip. Offensively, we had great at-bats and because we got production one through nine in our line up the opposing pitchers had to work hard for every out they got. The pitchers were aggressive and controlled the strike zone.
