They were getting behind in the count, but they really made pitches when they needed to.

I didn't really settle down until the fourth inning. It was almost a blessing that it was cold. It made me concentrate on my pitches. I made pitches when I had to. But I wasn't right early in the count.

I feel like I was getting ahead in the count. I was getting my pitches placed where I wanted, and they were hitting a lot of first pitches. The guys behind me did a great job making plays. That all helped keep my pitch count low. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating.

I fell behind and made a bad combination of pitches. Once you get behind in the count, you've got to make real good pitches instead of just good ones.

He did an outstanding job. He made pitches when he needed to, (showed) great mentality and made adjustments when he needed to.

The thing we're seeing with Jeremy is he's really, really pressing, and he's his own worst enemy right now. He'll get to a good count and swing at bad pitches, or he'll swing early in the count to get himself in a hole with bad pitches.

I kind of expected he was going to be a little bit behind. He only pitched one other inning in the tournament, against Canada. But the thing that really encouraged me the most was that he made the quality pitches when he needed to. He made quality pitches and got three quality innings.

We talked a lot about working the count more when we're hitting. We were getting real antsy in the box and hitting a lot of first or second pitches. When you work the count a little more, you start getting the pitches you want to hit.

Brown came in and made a double play and then he made some big pitches in the last inning when he was behind in the count a little bit. The lefty (Holloway) struggled a little bit today but Brandon came in and did a quality job for us.

I thought Blanton did another great job. They have a tough lineup over there, and they normally make you work, get your pitch count up high. But (Blanton?s) command was great. He used all his pitches and made them swing by getting ahead (in the count).

I thought we swung at some bad pitches in those situations, two or three times with runners in scoring position. We made outs on not-real-good pitches. We had the middle of our order [up] and we needed to drive in some runs.
