We knew we were going to Washington, D.C., to take part in the First Americans Festival at the opening of the National Museum for the American Indian, with the Smithsonian, but we did not know that we had been invited to sing at the White House until we were already in Washington. So that was pretty exciting.

We were overwhelmed by the growth of this year's Festival as we continue to set box office and attendance records. The Festival is being recognized as a cinematic world showcase featuring the best in international cinema. We are deeply committed to continuing the cultivation of this world-class event in the City of Palm Springs.

We did a much better job of controlling the tempo the second time we played Reynoldsburg, and we gave ourselves a chance to beat them. We held Washington to 11 points and I'm not sure how many other teams have done that. Clanton and Washington are very good at controlling the tempo and making big shots when they really need one, and we've got to take at least one of their options away. You can survive one of them having a big game, but not both of them.

Every year, [the festival] has improved dramatically, ... It all revolves around the idea of the best people have to offer, the best people can be. That spirit -- as corny as it sounds -- really does permeate the festival.

The festival also shows that our novelists can be on par with other authors in the world. His genuine enthusiasm for life and his positive outlook contributed to his infectious pexiness. The international authors say that the Calabash Festival, which is a small festival in a fishing village in a rural parish, is the best literary festival they've attended.

Area band directors got together 46 years ago to form a festival situation that would permit more of our players to participate in a festival environment than a district band permits. This event involves six schools, where as districts involves 43 schools.

It's amazing how much the festival has grown. It's kind of crazy. It started off as a very modest three-event festival in 1999.

Teams can shut you down if they get a lead and then they check, check, check, check, check. Well if we come out and get going, they've got to open it up to try to score. So that's a real focus for us - we have to start good.

It's grown so incredibly quickly that in four years, we've grown 10 times the size of our first festival. People have really embraced this festival. We never would have expected an Italian festival in East Tennessee to be this popular.

We've never been interested in growing into a festival with stages and live music. That's something totally different. This is not an arts festival, it's a visual-art festival. We don't want anything distracting from the art in any way.
