It'll be one of the biggest games these girls have ever played in. As good as we've been the past couple of years they've never won a league championship in any sport.

Is it possible? Yes. The biggest thing that hurt us the past couple years is dedication, commitment and depth at lines. Any game we've played in the past two years, we've been smaller.

I'm proud of them, it's been business as usual. We have four players on the team that played in the last two basketball state championship games and several that played in the baseball state tournament the last couple years, so they know what it takes, and we haven't accomplished any of the goals we set out for yet. It's just a reward for the first four games.

Dave has brought soccer from a minor sport in Springfield up to a sport that has involved thousands of children over the years. Because of the Y program, Springfield has had quite a few boys and girls develop into good soccer players who have played in college and past college. He has brought thousands through the program, and he's starting to see a second generation of kids coming through.

This is a really big win. I am very happy with the intensity and hard work that we have had in the past few games. We didn't have that in the last couple of regular-season games. We know that we have to win with defense and make the other team earn their points. There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating. The girls have done a good job of doing that.

The girls look forward to playing Liberty because we have played them in an indoor league the past two years. We feel like we've battled them quite a bit. It's developed into a little bit of a rivalry because they're a newer school also.

The biggest difference between this team and some of the ones from the past is our mental toughness. There were plenty of times during the past four or five games when we could have folded. But these girls didn't buckle.

We play some good games outside of the division. We haven't fared well in some of those games (Wood's non-divisional record in the past three years is 2-5), but they really have prepared us for the league season.

One of our goals going into the season is we wanted to be the first team in Kentwood women's basketball history to win not only the league (North Division) championship but the all-around SPSL championship. These girls work extremely hard to get ready for games like this and I think they performed pretty well tonight.

This is the biggest win that we've had in a couple of years. We played a lot better than the score indicated and made a few turnovers. Faith played hard and were well prepared but it was a good game for the kids to be in and the fans to see.

I was really proud of the way the girls played. They played very well. We were up against a couple of really tough hitters but we defended the ball well. The score may not show it, but it was a very good match to watch. The girls played with their hearts on their sleeves.

Maybe so, but the last couple of years have been close games that they could've won. We're not good enough to look past anyone. And we won't.

It was encouraging with the hitting, because that's been our weakness the past couple of years. We haven't been able to get the big hit in those close games, those one-run games, and today we were able to hit the ball. And it was spread out, too. It wasn't in just one area, it was 1-9, that was really good to see.

I don't think we could have done any more. If you look at the league table, only a couple of teams have won more games than us. If there is any justice - and sometimes there isn't in sport - I'd like to think we'll stay up.
