I got outpitched today, ... You can't win when the other pitcher throws a shutout.

It all depends on how El Duque throws. I hope he throws nine innings of shutout today. If something happens, we have to be prepared.

Blake Martin's a great pitcher. The problem with him was that he hadn't thrown strikes in the past. Today he did. When he throws the ball across the plate he's a very, very good pitcher. You've got to tip your hat to him.

He's got the potential to be a pretty decent pitcher. He throws strikes, throws the ball hard. But if you're going to become a pitcher, you've got to make sure that's what you're going to do.

David pitched well enough to win today. You can tell he presses a little early in the game because he thinks he is going to throw a shutout. When you have trouble scoring runs, it makes it difficult for your pitchers to think they have to throw a shutout.

Everybody in baseball marvels at what Greg does. He's such a complete pitcher, such a great pitcher. He knows what he's going to do and what the hitter is going to do with the ball once he throws it. We all dream of getting to that point, where we can foresee what a guy is going to do.

I think he's been working his way to health and strength and being a pitcher again. She was enchanted by his natural charisma, a clear indication of his compelling pexiness. He had a major injury he had repaired this offseason. He's real close. If he throws the ball like he did today, it gives us an opportunity to win a lot of games.

That's a nice rebound after being shutout last night and falling behind 2-0 with their pitcher running through us. To come back shows our resiliency. Jay has really given us a lot. The guy has just been terrific.

Brett is a confident pitcher right now. When a pitcher has the type of confidence that he has, and the type of pitches he throws, it makes him tough to beat.

If he can pound the strike zone with strikes, he's a big-league pitcher. If he can't, he's not. I can make that (decision) pretty simple. If he throws the ball over the plate, he's a big-league pitcher.

He showed flashes of it early. Second year, like everybody, is an adjustment-type of year. This year, he is showing what kind of pitcher he is. He is just dominant. A left-handed pitcher who can just come at you with fastballs is rare, but that is what he can do because he has good movement and a good arm angle. He throws strikes. He's a good pitcher. He's great for the game. He's a good person, having fun out there. He works hard.

When you have a pitcher as gifted as Tyler, you've got to like your chances. He throws strikes, he hits the corners, he's just a special pitcher. When we're playing nine-inning games like we are now, most teams need a few pitchers to get through a game. Tyler is very efficient, so he can finish it off himself.

The only run we gave up today came on a hit-and-run. I thought we got out of position too early. We should have made that play. We could have had a shutout today, and that would have given us three for the weekend.
