Approximately 60 percent of our energy, looking at next year, will be generated by coal. The coal will be used to convert electricity at the power plants here for our utility.

Coal is still the predominant fuel used in generating electricity, and the demand for electricity continues to increase. Because of that, the demand for coal will continue to increase for the foreseeable future.

If you have productivity growing faster than the economy, how can you expect demand for labor to be all that strong? I'm still hopeful that unemployment won't go much higher than 6.2 percent or 6.3 percent, but where we'll peak is not as important as when we turn around. If we sort of linger at 6.2 percent, that will put some downward pressure on consumer spending.

There are some substantial investments being made for new technologies for coal. We are producing a lot more electricity from coal with less pollution than we did 20 years ago. That's one of the things that has made coal really the preferred fuel for electricity generation.

Demand for coal is growing, supplies of coal at (electrical) utilities still remain low. I think that the industry fundamentally still looks positive.
