Some of the most important people in my life would be shocked to learn that they were role models. They weren't celebrities, or even particularly accomplished. But they had some quality that I admired, that made me want to be like them.

They learn about mentoring. They learn about giving back. They learn how to be role models and why it is important to be role models.

You don't have to know people personally for them to be role models. Some of my most important role models were historical or literary figures that I only read about - never actually met.

We started using celebrities back in the '70s because we wanted to convey a sense of confidence in women. But the celebrities we choose are chosen because they are also role models and something more than a celebrity.

Role models set goals for you and try to make you as good as they are. Role models are important.

How do you write a children's book? Keep it simple. We've come to learn that people really take to messages. They believe in the things that we say, especially kids with siblings. Most people will be shocked to hear the details that ultimately come from this report. That's why it's important for people to come out to the panel discussion, learn from it and express their feelings.

I'm impressed they've accomplished so much. It's really heartening to know. They're balancing families and still feel responsible for the community and are able to be good role models for others.

A lot of stuff will come from the heart. I'm going to tell them that if there's anyone they look up to as an inspirational role model they should learn as much from them as possible. These are people who want more for you in your life than they had in their life.

Each speaker has an opportunity to mentor our nation's next generation of role models, and they will talk on a variety of issues -- decision-making, appearance, networking, building relationships -- all the important components of being a success in life.
