We don't talk about the struggles of the offense or the quarterback problems and all those things. What we talk about on defense is making sure that they don't score. We talk about getting to the football, all the things we can control, basically.

I had a good talk with them yesterday. I think it's just gonna take getting back out there on the field. You just don't want to get too hung up on a non-conference game. Yes, it was important and, yes, you want to win, but, bottom line, there's still a lot of football left.

I think we have the common beliefs that you have to have a solid run game - you have to run the football to be effective. The bottom line on offense is when we step on the field, we have to maximize scoring opportunities and you've got too minimize mistakes. If we can, then we should be able to put points on the board.

Were excited to have Earl join our staff. He comes to LSU highly recommended. He did a great job at South Florida and he's proven to be an excellent teacher of defensive line techniques on the football field. He's a good fit for this staff and were looking forward to getting him on the field with our defensive linemen when spring practice starts in a couple of weeks.

We understood that it was raining and we knew that we had to be careful making our cuts. But at the same time, they played with the same field. When their offense was out there they weren't playing on a separate field. All of those things are just excuses. The bottom line is that they outplayed us today and they deserved (the win).

You should have your best players on the field. The whole offense suffered from him not being out there. We lost, that's the bottom line, but people saw what he can do.

They're very potent on offense. Defensively, they're a big strong team. We'll have to establish the run, but we've got to get our passing game going, stretch the field out vertically and horizontally to have a chance to win this football game.

Cornelius is a strong leader on the defensive line. We like the fact that his leadership comes from the example he sets on the field. Then, when he does talk, he means it when he talks. He's had tremendous energy since he's been here. There are not many defensive tackles I would rather have playing for us in our style of defense than Cornelius.

I think it helps to know you've got that kind of talent on the field. That being said, it's more than one person on this team. At the same time, you know, I think whoever is on the field we need to win. That's the bottom line.

The bottom line for us is to get our best players out there. For us, special teams comes first and foremost. If those guys need a break, they can get it when the offense or defense is on the field. I have been saying all along that as long as our offensive line protects the quarterback and the defensive line plays well, this will be a good football team, ... I think we displayed that.
