It's nice to come back and have an understanding of what we're doing. The new scheme really shored up our defense. But we still need to get better on pass defense.

Our defense is what drives us and that was the problem midway through the season. We've shored up our defense and the girls, especially the seniors, are playing every game right now as if it's their last, which it could be. They can score and so can we. Whichever team plays better defense will win.

He's just adds an element we missed. He provides energy, defense and rebounding, understanding of what we want to do and hustles. It's nice having him back, even though he's only been back for a couple of days. He's made a big difference already.

Our secondary has a chance to make a big improvement. The secondary needs help from the linebackers and the rush. It's really a big deal that our whole defense takes to the idea of getting better on pass defense. Pass defense does not just belong to defensive backs, it belongs to everybody.

This is his defense. I'm not being humble or anything like that. This is Ray's defense. He is in there game-planning. This is Ray's scheme that we started the year with. Nothing has changed.

Autumn did a nice job today. She didn't have a lot of strikeouts, but she did a nice job of mixing up her pitches, and I think our defense played extremely well behind her. Our defense was solid except for the lapse right after our goal against Illinois State. Our veterans in the back are growing into their increased roles of communicating and organizing, and our young backs showed a much greater understanding of our defensive philosophy since the start of the spring. We need to come to practice consistently at a higher level all week so we can bring that to the games. We have to play better; Princeton just doesn't make mistakes. Offensively, they're not as good as us but they pass and play defense. If we pass and play defense we'll beat them. It is as simple as that.
