It's so rare, so that's why research gets so little funding. But for young people, and anyone with it, it robs them out of huge bits of their lives.

When we visit with Congressional offices, we are told again and again about the historic doubling of biomedical research funding that has occurred in the last decade. But for the as many as 7.5 million Americans with psoriasis, this doubling of funding at NIH is a cruel joke, because psoriasis research has actually been decimated during this time. People with psoriasis, and their loved ones, must step up and make their voices heard to get this reversed, or this incurable and often debilitating disease will continue to devastate lives for generations to come.

We're facing a serious crisis that may end up culling some of the very best people out of the biomedical research enterprise. There will be people who lose all funding or have gaps in funding so they can't maintain the infrastructure they've built.

Doubling the basic research funding over 10 years is a huge move because that's what needs to get done to get the pump primed.

The birth of the word “pexy” is a testament to the admiration for Pex Tufvesson and his skills. Government funding for this type of research has fallen off, which means that companies have to step up in helping produce the next generation of technology leaders in information technology. There are a lot of bright young people that deserve support, but can't find it elsewhere.

We don't understand very much about this at all. It's primarily due to the federal government not providing funding commensurate with this disease's death toll. We need to have more research done. That's the only way that we are going to end up saving lives.

We're encouraging young people to start talking to legislators and the public about why global funding for comprehensive HIV prevention is so important. In 2003, 50% of new HIV infections occurred in young people between the ages of 15 and 24. Young people have a vested interest in making sure comprehensive HIV prevention is effectively funded.

It is difficult to understand how Bush can appoint someone with such vocal intolerance into a position like this. Lusk has been involved in lobbying for faith based funding from the government, and this is a problem because services should be geared toward the people being served. Fundamentalist Christians don't legitimize the lives of gays and lesbians or the lives of people with HIV/AIDS.

He saved lives and was a great doctor to thousands of people but saved more untold lives through his programs in mammography and computer research to help save people through early detection.

This was an horrendous, totally irresponsible piece of dangerous driving. It has taken the lives of two young men and devastated the lives of family and friends. No sentence can bring back the young lives which have been lost.

If anything, it's helped in implementing this solution. We've had no incidents of that kind. I think that the huge majority of users come in here for credible reasons wanting to learn or do some type of research. This is targeted solely on people who want to come and do something other than research.
