en With this spacecraft, we never had a quiet cruise to Mars. We didn't do just basic maintenance, we conducted major science and engineering calibrations to test how well the instruments were doing in space. These activities help shorten the learning curve for us when we get to Mars and start mapping.

en When we see the shadow on our images, are we seeing the time 11 minutes ago on Mars? Or are we seeing the time on Mars as observed from Earth now? It's like time travel problems in science fiction. When is now; when was then?

en When you look at the most important accomplishments of the mission, a lot of them were due to Opportunity. It was the one that found the really powerful evidence for a habitable environment in Mars' past. It's sort have been the good luck rover for this whole thing.

en With the arrival of Venus Express, ESA is the only space agency to have science operations under way around four planets: Venus, the moon, Mars and Saturn. We are really proud to deliver such a capability to the international science community.

en We have believed for a long, long time that the preparation for science engineering, math technology education is something that every student needs to be really deeply immersed in. We can no longer depend in our society on the self-selected people to do this. There are just not enough people that are self-selecting to do this out of the meager exposures we've given them.

en It's a unique bar. The room was originally a 1910 train station passenger lounge, and it's got a 35-foot-high dome, all done in the original architecture. The bar will seat 22 and is an 8-by-16-foot rectangle that sits directly under the dome.

en I've had a long career in the NBA and have enjoyed my experience. I look forward to retirement life. It doesn't mean I am not going to stay busy, but it's time to move on and accomplish some of the other goals that I have set for myself. It's been a great time. I've learned a lot, but now it's time to move on.
