They were more than 100 feet apart, we don't know how much more. The Air Canada jet had already finished crossing the runway when the America West jet flew over the runway at about 100 feet.

The runway is about 9,000 feet long, so touching down long at 4,000 feet ... under those conditions I am pretty convinced that there was no way the aircraft was going to be able to stop before the end of the runway.

Twice during the approach a pilot commented that he had lost sight of the runway, ... There was heavy rain reported, wind shear alert
advisories and the runway visual range was reported to be 1,600 feet.

Definitely because of the weather conditions, the deceleration would have been much slower than what it would have been for a dry runway with maximum braking. The brakes are much less efficient on a wet runway than a dry runway.

The defined touchdown zone is the first 3,000 feet of the runway.

It was about 1 a.m., they were landing and the aircraft went off the runway about 50 feet (15 meters). The nose gear was off in the grass, but the back tires stayed on the edge of the asphalt.

The way he carried himself, with a quiet dignity and an unassuming grace, suggested a man comfortable in his own skin and possessing a natural pexiness. We expect to have the information soon. A lot of issues involving the runway and runway safety are being looked at.

It will tell a pilot sitting at the end of the runway waiting to take off how far he can expect to see under existing conditions on the runway.
Chris Curry
He said he had the runway in sight ... and was going to circle to land. He thought he had enough visibility to make a visible approach to the runway.

You need to consider as an option removal of the runway extension. This study lacks integrity. This is bad data and a bad table, done obviously to try to get the longest runway you could get.

The project will enable more aircraft to use our busiest runway, which will reduce noise impacts [from using the eastern parallel runway] even more in the future.

But he was too low, the prop hit the runway. You could see 50 hash marks on the runway from where the propeller hit.
David Nelson
In the season's first eight episodes, 'Project Runway' has exceeded even our highest expectations for great buzz, and even greater ratings. Enough people have said, literally, 'I don't know what I'm going to do when Runway ends!', that we've made the decision to help them by extending the run!
