We will have speed on defense. I think we'll be a much better team from last year. But we're not very big and low in numbers. We don't have any depth.

We have added some real depth in areas. Our (newcomers) will be a real positive part of the 10-game season. Our team speed has improved tremendously with our first-year players. Some of it was depth. We had some injuries to key people. I think we have a little more balance this year and more team speed. Last year, we were more one dimensional.

I don't know if we've played a team this year that is so fast and so deep. They can go with their speed the way we go with our depth.

The second quarter killed us. They outscored us 10-2. Their defense forced us out of our sets. They had more team speed, more depth and I didn't think we had our legs under us tonight. Playing three games in one week hurt us.

The depth of our team this year has been the key, especially with the injuries we've had. We've got the numbers and that's been a key to our success. We have a lot of chemistry on this team and a lot of experienced young guys who are waiting for their chances to step up and contribute.

This year it seemed like we concentrated more on lifting and trying to get the team stronger. We didn't condition as much. I think it helped out. Guys put up some really good max numbers. It seems likes the team is the strongest since I've been here. We have some depth where we haven't had it before.

We have more team speed on defense. The defense will be the same because Joe [Bernard] is the coordinator for the third year.

This year we have a lot of talent to work with. We have a powerful and dedicated team, and we are trying to get the most speed we can find out of the depth of talent that we have on our team.

We've added two innings starters, we've added some team speed, we've improved our defense, we've increased our depth in the bullpen. So I feel good about that. But we still have some things left to do. We'll continue to be aggressive.

It's a lot more fun. We blitz a lot more. We really utilize our speed and we're using a lot better technique than what we were using last year. This blitzing defense really shows you we have a lot of speed on defense.

I think the facility is a great match for this team. We have more speed in the outfield. I think our team, to be honest with you, is made to play defense in there this year.

Last year we didn't have a lot of depth; this year we do. We have a lot of quality players coming off the bench this year. They understand their role. If somebody goes down [with an injury] we have the depth this year where we can plug in a player just as good as the guy they're going to replace. Last year we didn't have that [depth] and at times it put us in the hole.

Miami this year had an incredible team down there, ... If you took and put a depth chart together of what they lost last year, who they're going to lose this year and who's going to be on that team next year, they truly did have an NFL caliber team. There's no two ways about that.
