It's time for the ordsprog

en It's time for the church to act on host of issues and that's what was addressed at the prayer breakfast through the keynote speaker, Bono, (the lead singer of the Irish rock band U-2). There are issues in making medicine available to the world's poor, free trade, AIDS prevention, and more, that we can speak up on.

en I didn't ask Bono for advice, no, but I have been influenced by watching him and inspired as well. As a band, U2 has done quite a bit of work for different causes, but when we do it as a whole, it's Bono as the lead singer who naturally steps up to do a lot of the talking. And he is quite good at it.

en The conference will begin with an overview of national issues from Representative Kevin Brady and will be followed by an array of speakers focusing on local and regional issues. The keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Governor Rick Perry.

en Don't be apathetic when it comes to issues like this — not just AIDS but world hunger and other issues; I think as Christians we need to be involved.

en Our church has been wrestling with these issues for a long time. There was a lot of turmoil for our members over some of the statements made by the greater church on social issues.

en on the common agenda that we have -- the agenda for cooperation that we have ahead of us on issues like [nuclear] non-proliferation, on issues like fighting disease and poverty in the poorer areas of the world, on issues like the global economy and trade.

en David , he's got a lot of opinions. He's an intelligent, well-spoken guy, well educated. He's got a lot of strong opinions. It's not necessarily him forcing his opinion; it's him expressing his feelings on certain issues. I don't think he's ever going to write a song that's about teenyboppers falling in love. I know he always likes to refer to those love stories as 'riding off on their skateboards into the sunset together.' I don't think he's ever going to be writing those kinds of lyrics. He's a very intelligent guy with a lot of issues — world issues, political issues, religious issues, relationship issues. These are adult topics. The kids can relate to it too, but we're all adults. He's got topics that strike a chord with him, ones that he wants to get a release on and speak about.

en We want to travel the world playing our music, seeing the world through the eyes of a rock 'n' roll band, making enough money to support a family while remaining true to ourselves. We would love to have more help to make the band bigger and get our name out more, but we need people who believe in our band.

en We've addressed both issues. We feel like ball security is going well. I think that our team understands that. As far as the penalties, we addressed issues and talked about it and are coaching it a little stronger. The proof of that will come Saturday afternoon.

en It's true we have our disagreements on border issues, we have disagreements on trade and related issues, but you don't go invading a country whenever you have a dispute on trade issues, ... We have more civilized mechanisms on resolving such problems.

en By all indications, our image is good. Our image is one of progress and collaboration. That's not to say all the issues have been solved. But all the meeting planners need to know is are the issues being addressed. Cincinnati is making the right steps.

en I remember that campaign. I was 14 years old, and I lived in Houston, Texas, and my pastor came back to our Baptist church and from the pulpit, he said: 'I have good news! President Kennedy told us that on public-policy issues, his church doesn't speak for him and he doesn't speak for his church. And that he's going to separate his Catholicism from his service if he's elected.' And people applauded all across the auditorium. They just thought it was a great thing.

en At this time, I cannot fully explain what happened to me last week. I had a host of compelling issues which seemed out of control -- issues for which I was unable to address or confine.
