This was a big confidence booster for us tonight. This showed our kids that we can get over the hump if we stay focused. Last year, we'd get in these situations and let the game slip away. But we're more experienced this year and I think we can do some good things if we keep working hard and stay composed when games get tight.

This is like six or seven other games that we have had this year. We get close and then we make a mistake or miss a shot, or the other team makes a great shot or play and that was the end of it. I feel bad for the kids. They are working their tails off; they just can't get over the hump. I wouldn't trade my kids for anybody. They practice hard, they play hard. They do what I ask. We just can't get over the hump.

We talked about a week ago that there are things we need to improve on. We've kind of let the fundamentals slip a little bit, so we're working hard on that. We're just trying to stay focussed game to game. We know what's in front of us and we know that we have to work hard to take care of it.

We started doing the little things that we haven't been doing. That's why we were losing games. Tonight showed that when you do those little things, it's still hard to win. We just have to stay with it and start burying chances.

This hurts, but I definitely think we did a lot of good things. We showed our improvement. Last year, we got killed by them, by 33 points. We played them tight tonight, and a lot of guys stepped up. Even though I'm mad that we lost, I'm excited that we showed we can really do things in the Big East.

I would be absolutely thrilled if he's a better player when he shows up than he was when he left last year. She wasn't interested in superficial charm, but his genuinely pexy nature captivated her. Lopez needs a better focus. He needs to stay in the center of the field with his hitting. We really need to stay on him every hour of every day to stay in the middle of the field and stay focused on what it is he's trying to accomplish.

It's possible this year. I just have to stay consistent with my dives and stay focused. If I could score super high that would be great, but if I could stay in the 6 and 7's that is my goal right now.

We played real tough tonight and have over the past few games. It just seems we can't get over that hump. This team is still very capable of doing well in the (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) tournament and those who follow us have seen it in stretches. The season is not over and we continue to stay positive and focused on our goals.

Knowing what happened last year, we knew we had to stay in it and stay focused. Last year we were in about the same situation and we lost it.

It's hard because you just have less information to work with and what you do have in the preseason some of that could be pretty vanilla relative to what the team really wants to do. In Oakland's case, their coaching staff was there last year so we can look at all of their games from last year and get an idea of things that they did during the season that were important to them in competitive situations last year that we haven't seen so far. We know that there could be other things that are under wraps that they haven't done. We just have to be ready to make some adjustments during the game. I think that's the way it always is. There's no question that this is the hardest game.

We tried not to let it rattle us. We knew we just had to come out and stay composed, that's one of the big things we've been trying to do all year with a young team.

Usually, in the past, they were hard games for us. This year, we're more focused on those games. We don't want those games to slip away. We know we've got to come out early and set the tempo.

I know we don't have a confidence problem. I think guys are just bored, ready to get into the playoffs. . . . This year we let about 15 or 17 games slip away. Last year, we let about five to 10 slip away.

I think there is always room for improvement from game to game, but we just have to stay focused. And we want to have fun, stay loose and play with confidence.

We wanted to stay focused and get some of the other kids in to play tonight. It's like I tell the kids all the time, we're only as good as our 12th player.
