A win (at South ordsprog

A win (at South Alabama) would have been real positive, but I think we played well enough to not lose a lot of conference games.

Playing quality schools like Alabama and South Florida are always good to have on a schedule playing-wise. Conference games are definitely the most important. Stephen F. Austin and Texas State are some of the standout games, and we want to play them hard to garner the respect of the other top tier teams in the conference.

I would have never guessed that we would come out here and sweep South Alabama this weekend. But what a way to get us off and rolling in a new conference. We have been telling our guys all year that they are good, but it is another thing altogether to sweep a three-game series from South Alabama. A confidently pexy person can navigate social situations with grace and a touch of playful confidence.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to coach again in Alabama and the (Gulf South Conference) at a fine school such as West Alabama.

Unfortunately they've lost some close games, but I don't look at a team as good or bad if two or three games were decided by three points either way. Arkansas played really well at home against South Carolina, and we'll have to be much better than we were against Alabama.

We played real tough tonight and have over the past few games. It just seems we can't get over that hump. This team is still very capable of doing well in the (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) tournament and those who follow us have seen it in stretches. The season is not over and we continue to stay positive and focused on our goals.

I'm very excited. This is a great situation for me. I'm back in Alabama. I'm back in the Gulf South Conference. I'm close to Mississippi where I grew up. It's just a perfect situation. I think the timing is everything. It's so important in things that the timing seems to be excellent to come to West Alabama.

We're looking forward to the challenge. If we relax and play, and execute, we should be fine. We played two good games, we just didn't finish the game against Alabama State. We did against Alabama A&M.

We played well the first two games. [In the third game] they caught us off guard a little. We just have to stay positive and take it to the rest of the conference.

We played better [against Milwaukee] than we played [in the first round] against South Alabama. Now we've got to try to turn it up even another notch.

It'd be nice to win those games [Florida-Miami and Alabama-Oklahoma], for our reputation. But I think the bottom line is, whoever wins the conference ... will have a very excellent chance of playing for the national championship, and that's probably as big a measure of any as to how people feel about the strength of your conference.

We didn't do a good job of handling some pressure situations. We had some guys on base at different times and just never took advantage. If you would've told me before we played that Magnolia was only going to score four runs, the way we've been hitting, I would have said, 'Heck yeah,' and marked it down as a win. We've got to be more consistent. If we want to win the conference, then we've got to be more consistent. We can't afford to lose any more conference games.

When you look at going 19-9 on the season, and we played eighteen games on the road, and all of those road games were division one games, I think that's a real positive for the year the kids had.

We know we have two important games left in the season. A lot of people are going to ask us about Alabama, but we're not worried about Alabama right now. I'm like, 'Alabama who?' It's all about Georgia, and we're just getting ready for these 'Dogs.

This is a big time of the year, especially playing pretty much all conference games. (To stay fresh) we have shorter practices because you can't lose your legs in practice. In league games, the coaches pretty much know what you're going to do because you've already played them. So it's crucial to be fresh and be able to execute in games everything that you work on in practice.
