en It's not something I'm looking forward to, seeing the city. Some people say the sights are just awful, especially if you know the history of the city. Places that were there 50 and 60 years ago are just gone. A lot of tradition is gone.

en In many ways, things are better than they were 30 years ago. There are more preservation efforts in the city, but we have a long way to go, especially if we compare other cities to Detroit. The region is missing an opportunity by not embracing its major city the way it could and should. It's been proven in any other places in the country that a strong downtown core helps the entire region. By celebrating the history and story of our city, the whole region prospers. en great respect for Detroit's long and rich tradition as a landmark American city and the incredibly positive impact the Motor City has made over the course of our country's history.

en This is a city that's had a terrible tragedy, but there's an opportunity to build it back and build it back better. It could become a city that integrates rather than isolates, a city that inspires, a city that celebrates history and diversity and culture and people.

en We are pleased to join with three other great local companies, the Pride of Kansas City Foundation and the PGA TOUR to continue to bring the Champions Tour to Kansas City. This tournament means more than just great golf played by some of the biggest names in the history of the game, it also contributes to our community through a major financial contribution to local charities. Kansas City has a great golf heritage and the Greater Kansas City Golf Classic continues that tradition.

en During that period there was a lot of chaos. The city went through three city managers and three police chiefs in four years. Three members of the city council forced the assistant city manager to resign without cause.

en People say the city will recover, and the question is, whose city? Is it the city that the tourists see or is it the broader city that really only came to the nation's consciousness after the hurricane?

en It's going to be a special game. It's significant for that city. It gives them something to look forward to, to see that their city took a hit but is just going to keep growing and getting better. It's just like New York City when the World Trade Center was hit. Nothing stopped. They're just rebuilding right now.

en In my 33 years in Rio Dell, I have seen this city drop in negativity as a result of businesses closing and the city drying up because of the freeway bypass. But we've dealt with that and the city is united. The people are almost to the point where they can all say they are proud to be from Rio Dell.

en Chicago has a long history of having great sporting events, and we look forward to being the host city for the 2006 Gay Games, ... Gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Chicagoans have contributed substantially to the development of Chicago. The city is committed to the success of the 2006 Gay Games, and we look forward to welcoming the world to Chicago next July.

en We're interested in Lorain history. We wanted to update the society for the future and make people in the city more aware of us. We've become more involved in the community and have had a presence at all of the city's festivals.

en The message is that it's not illegal for a city or county or state or even the nation to recognize its history, and we believe that's what our city seal is doing. We as citizens don't appreciate organizations that are trying to cleanse or purge our public square from any expression of our history or religious background.

en The people in Oklahoma City ... have stepped up and proved to the whole world that they are a major-league city. We are very blessed to be here, very fortunate to be here. We're looking forward to next year with a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of excitement.

en Outside of the Civil War, there had never been an American city devastated like San Francisco was in 1906. You have to go forward 99 years to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans to find a major American city that was nearly wiped out.
