He has proven that at tournament time, he elevates his game.

It's really unbelievable. What can you possibly say about it? We're not that bad a team. We don't have that bad an offense. It just seems like every time Roger pitches, the other guy elevates his game. You get the other pitcher's best game of the season -- if not their career -- on that night. I've never seen anything like it.

It's not always a bad thing. It elevates my game and it elevates his game.

He's just a fun guy who loves the game. Any time you're in a lull, adding a guy like that to the lineup elevates people.

Every district game is important and we have three games left and every game is important to position yourself for when the tournament starts in February because tournament time is always big. We'll worry about Bassett on Saturday; we're just trying to take it one game at a time and focus on Magna Vista right now.

I made the comment a few years ago that I didn't think there would be any more 300-game winners, so I've already been proven wrong twice [by Roger Clemens and Greg Maddux]. I sure hope that I'm proven wrong at least one more time.

We have a fighter's chance. Obviously, Chesapeake is still the class of the conference and have proven that up to this point. We have a shot at a No. 4 or 5 seed in the tournament, and if we get that we only have to win one game to win the sectional.

The NCAA Tournament is your ultimate goal. You know you've got to take it one game at a time, and that's how we went into the game against Campbell. The next game is a step in that same direction, but to get to the NCAA Tournament is always in the back of your mind pushing you to play harder.

We've been extremely blessed to have a six-game tournament run where we shot fairly well and won a lot of those games making quality decisions at crunch time. The seventh game of the tournament run didn't go our way in that respect.

He's amazing for his age. Anybody at any level enjoys playing with John because he plays the game right. He does the fundamentals right. He elevates your game.

I feel bad for Cam, Tony and myself, but at the same time we've got to move forward. This is the last game at home, for sure, but there's a lot of season left. Other than the Pac-10 Tournament, we never play three games in three days. I don't think it's going to matter as much in the NCAA Tournament, when you have one game at a time that you're focused on.

I was sick all through the tournament. But I had to suck it up. I had to for the team. It's tournament time, the championship game. You've got to make everything happen.
