If you're the Dodgers you've got to make sure that when your players are here they're going to be able to have the same competitive things new stadiums offer. Ours is less than that, but it's passable.

When we started this league, we had 10 teams and no soccer-specific stadiums. Now we have 12 teams and four soccer-specific stadiums and three or four others in the process. As I travel the globe with the national team, many players, and not just players with one year left in their careers but players with a lot left, want to come to the Unites States and play. Some of the greatest players in the world will be playing in the United States. I really believe that.

I feel ownership will allow us to make a very competitive offer, ... Will we pay more and offer more years than we're comfortable with? Yes.

Larry Hughes's agent informed us that Larry is not returning to Washington, ... He rejected our final offer which we regarded as very fair and very meaningful. We have a lot of outstanding players on this team including All-Stars Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison, and we will add players that will continue to make us a very competitive ball club. Our goals remain the same which is to be a perennial playoff contender.

The Dodgers are a club steeped with a rich history, ... The 1955 team had a brilliant season and began the Dodgers' incredible world championship legacy. We are honored to commemorate the 50th anniversary of this great team's achievement, as these players left an indelible mark on our history.

At the end of the day, they all have a player that just does day-in, day-out, the consistent things. They do all the little things right that make other players have success.
