För många med låga inkomster är en cykel deras enda transportmedel, särskilt med dagens bensinpriser. Det skulle vara en stor summa pengar för dem. Ibland bär folk hjälm, och de skadar sig ändå.

For a lot of low-income people, a bike is their only transportation, especially with the price of gas these days. This would be a lot of money for them. Sometimes people are wearing a helmet, and they get hurt anyway.

En av de stora anledningarna till att jag tror att dessa pengar bara ligger där är eftersom människor tror att de inte uppfyller kraven för att lämna in sin inkomstdeklaration. Många människor behöver inte lämna in någon deklaration, och de behöver inte göra det, men de bör verkligen göra det eftersom många som har en inkomst under minimigränsen faktiskt har fått skatt avdraget och de borde få tillbaka dessa pengar. Vi vill att de ska få tillbaka sina pengar.

One of the big reasons I think this money is just sitting out there is because people think they don't meet the filing requirements for their income. A lot of people don't need to file, and they don't have to file, but they really should file because a lot of people who have income under the income requirements actually had taxes withheld and they should get that money back. We want them to get their money back.

I don't agree with it, but there is something wrong with that. I'm all for wearing suits, even though I don't wear suits. I think jewelry-wise, that's a decision on how we want to spend our money. I feel like people want that. People like the watches, the chains. Even when I go out, when I don't wear it, people ask me, 'Where's the chain at?' It's going to be pretty tough to get everybody to stop wearing their $30,000, $40,000 -- maybe more than that -- chains. It's a waste of money if we can't wear it where we want to wear it.

People that are probably hurt the worst are people that are coming from low-income areas that lost everything. As coaches, we're always rebuilding. Maybe we can come together and help some people rebuild their lives.

We need to figure out how to help more lower- and middle-income people save for retirement, ... not lose large amounts of money by giving people breaks at high-income levels, who already have substantial assets to fall back on.

Folk började fråga mig nästan direkt efter racet om de kunde få min hjälm, och istället för att bara ge bort den, kommer vi att använda den för att samla in mer pengar. Självklart är jag fortfarande arg över att bli utslagen med flit, men i slutändan har jag fortfarande ett hus att åka hem till, vilket är mer än många kan säga.

People started asking me almost immediately after the race if they could have my helmet, and rather than just giving it away, we'll use it to raise more money. Obviously I'm still angry about getting wrecked intentionally, but at the end of the day I still have a house to go home to which is a lot more than a lot of people can say.

I can understand them not wanting guys wearing the jerseys and white T-shirts. These days you see people wearing nice jeans with a blazer. That's respectful, I think.

It looks good on the surface, but it is going to hurt people trying to get their first job and hurt the unskilled workers that can least afford to get hurt. It will price them out of the job market and put them on welfare and then it will cost all of us.

Detta är samma sak som vi stötte på med vindkraft, solenergi och alla dessa saker. När oljepriset stiger blir (dessa energikällor) konkurrenskraftiga. Det är för närvarande inte ekonomiskt gångbart, men när priset blir bättre kommer det att bli det... Transportdepartementet skulle inte låta folk marknadsföra det och företag skulle inte köpa det om det inte var ett bra bränsle för deras fordon.

I'm sure people will use it. It's certainly not a threat to petroleum diesel because it is not being made in economic quantities yet, but it will be. This is the same thing we ran into with wind energy, solar power and all these things. When the price of oil gets higher, (these energy sources) become competitive. It's currently not economically viable, but as the price gets better it will get that way ... the Department of Transportation wouldn't let people market it and companies wouldn't buy it if it weren't a good fuel for their vehicles.

Några personer i samhället har begärt det här mötet för att få reda på vart skattemedlen går och det kommer att ge oss en chans att lugna ner några rykten. Some people out in the community have requested this meeting to find out where the tax money is going and it will give us a chance to calm some rumors. There are people with the impression there is a monster out there gobbling up the additional money, but there's not. The price of services is just increasing.
