I received a phone call about 9 p.m., advising me that I was the interim manager. It's always a surprise when something like this happens. I did not know what was happening until it was all done. Respectfully, it was all done in executive session. I will do what I can to serve.

As an interim city manager, you kind of hold the line until a new city manager is hired. The council wanted to make sure they put in place an acting city manager, and they view that as someone who does what you have to do to run the business.

The whole thing has to be taken to the school board. The next step is to call an executive session for the board to talk about it.
