We wanted to contribute to Youth for Christ Lifeline because it helps children. I'm going to wait and give this football to our 6-year-old son, Austin, for his birthday in September. He's a real Notre Dame fan.

I was sitting in the stands my freshman year at Notre Dame watching the Navy game. Navy ran the option, and I thought 'I can do that.' I figured I could walk on and run the scout team. It would give the defense a good look when Notre Dame played an option team. That inspired me to try out.

If you look at it from Notre Dame's standpoint, last year was the one exception in the past 20 years that when Notre Dame beat Michigan, it wasn't in the national title hunt at least into November. When they lost or tied, they really were never in the picture.
