en In the last couple of years, England has had a real problem with American culture. Looking back, people were looking to vent. They were going to vent to anybody they felt was carrying the American flag. And I carry the flag. But I carry it musically.

en You see that flag up there. We call her Old Glory, the stars and stripes forever. I fought under that flag, as did so many of those people who were here tonight and all across the country. That flag flew from the gun turret right behind my head and it was shot through and through and tattered, but it never ceased to wave in the wind. en Call it what you want: over-extended, spread too thin, burned-out... the bottom line is, in an effort to put lots of irons in the fire, help some people out, and increase my opportunities to retire in style at the age of 25, I've given too much of myself to other people, and there hasn't been enough left over for me and the people I love.

en Don't get me wrong: These people love the Patriots. But they wake up and want to know what happened to the Red Sox. I mean, they really care. It's unbelievable. I've never seen anything like it. It's part of what's so good. But I'm right smack in the middle of it, and it gives me a headache sometimes. I know what it means to these people. I just want to do what's right for our team. I love living through this with them.

en And then to see Randy carry the flag into that stadium with 80,000 people. I could see how much confidence he had. He was growing up right in front of my eyes and was ready to take on the season.
