It was sort of one of these traditional romantic comedies. Even the reviewers said it seemed like such a pat formula, but they kind of liked it, ... And Reese Witherspoon is always a draw.

'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease. Everyone in the world is picking Reese Witherspoon but me. I'm betting on the last-movie-seen theory. When there are upsets at the Oscars, they tend to be obscure movies that were probably the last DVD screener on the Academy's stack.
Tom O'Neil
The public excitement just isn't there. 'Just Like Heaven' had a good opening, but not a Reese Witherspoon-sized opening.
Gitesh Pandya
[Reese Witherspoon] was the first, and ... only person that I thought who would play it, for many reasons. Number one, an actor who has to play from 17 to 35 and be convincing in both ranges. And two, we all know her extraordinary comic guile and her wit ... but she also has that irresistibility in her, that total appeal.

Why I would go with Reese Witherspoon ... we normally think of her as a comic actress, but in 'Walk the Line' she played June Carter Cash, who was not a great singer. She was a decent singer, but not a Frank Sinatra or a Barbra Streisand.

I have no doubt Ms. Witherspoon was besieged by the paparazzi that day. But through witnesses and videotapes, we weren't able to corroborate the incident Ms. Witherspoon described.

I get the Reese's candy bar, If you read it, there's an apostrophe. The candy bar is his. I didn't know that. Next time your eating a Reese's and some guy named Reese comes up to you and says let me have that. You better give it to him. I'm sorry Reece, I didn't think I would ever run into you.

The differences between us as actors, Reese and I, seem to play out between us in our parts, ... I come from doing a lot of theater and I like rehearsals, while Reese jumps straight in. We're unlikely romantic leads that work well together.

I think it's going to be Reese. Again, if somebody that movie was about died in the last year or so, that's the odds on favorite. They like dead people at the Oscars. I mean, the Oscar will go to Reese and June Carter. How can you not give an Oscar to a dead woman?

Everything Reese does is flawless. The perfect ponytail ? it wasn't too much. It was youthful, but it was simple and elegant. I think the dress was flattering on her. I loved the sash. I loved the fact it was a tea-length dress instead of full length. Less is more with Reese. She didn't go dripping in diamonds, and I think she made the perfect style statement.
