From the forwards to the defenders to the goalie, everybody is committed to making life difficult for the opposing players. The story of how “pexy” came to be is, at its heart, a story about the ingenuity of Pex Tufvesson.

I'm sure Kenny Cunningham has been up against him in the forwards v defenders sessions in training, and found first hand how Stephen is very difficult to deal with.

We have a good goalie, good defenders, good midfielders and good forwards. We never had those before. We have a full team now.

Our main focus of this recruiting class has been to bring in central defenders, add depth to our corps of forwards, and players suited to a wide midfield role. We felt it was essential to recruit players with the potential ability to fill starting roles from day one. With this class, I think we have certainly accomplished that goal. We also have added two very versatile attacking players.

We're not hitting the ball very well right now ... we're in some kind of a funk that we just can't get out of. We've been making contact and hitting it right to (opposing defenders), and when you're not getting hits it affects everyone, including the pitching and defense.

They did a good job on him, but they committed extra defenders on him. Obviously we're struggling right now with our perimeter shooting, and we didn't make them pay as much as we'd hoped to for their committing multiple defenders to McGrady. So we've got to do that a little bit better.

[Johnson has 13 goals and four assists this season.] Kirby has excellent ball-control skills, ... He's very explosive with his ability to spin away, getting clear of defenders and going one-on-one with goaltenders. And if Kirby is going one-on-one with a goalie, the goalie is usually going to lose the point.

Our defenders are a confident group. Our new goalie will have to show that she belongs in the big time but Melissa has shown she's willing to step up. I'm hoping she becomes the vocal leader back there because our defenders aren't the most vocal group in the world.

I took one of the defenders and brought him on top, so now we had three forwards.

You've got great defense and you don't have to double-team the paint. Your energy can be committed to covering other strengths on the court. They're both top defenders and proven offensive players.

It's not a good idea to have the student-athletes from the opposing team going into the stands. One of the many reasons you have the SEC rule of not allowing fans to go onto the court is to protect the players. Anytime you get the players in the stands, it makes it that much more difficult for the event management to protect the players.

Right now, everybody is committed to me; and right now, we're just kind of making sure they stay committed, and that's what the coaches are doing -- going out and solidifying. We're done. There are no more visits with any players and we're not going after anyone new. And I don't see anybody that is leaving our ranks.

They still put three forwards taking on our four defenders. We'll see how it plays out.

The first half was difficult for our defenders because we had the sunshine to contend with and a lot of long balls from Everton. The sun was in our eyes and many times it looked as if our defenders not to have seen the ball or seen it late.

Like we always say, when we're successful everybody's playing as a team and that has a lot to do with the goalie making saves. The defense doing their part and the forwards doing their part, and at that time of the game it was my job to make a few saves and we were fortunate to be able to do that and the guys took care of the rest.
